Structure Details
Gilmore Place is a master-planned community located within Burnaby’s burgeoning Brentwood Town Centre. This 12-acre site is intersected by light rapid transit (LRT), including Gilmore Station which hosts more than 1.3-million passengers per year. As a vital piece of the very active Millennium Line, construction of the first phase of this development necessitated a 3.5-acre wide and 100-foot deep excavation to accommodate deep building foundations and fortify the LRT’s elevated guideway. When complete, phase one of Gilmore place will consist of three mixed-use high-rise towers.
Project Highlights
-
Marcon collaborated with geotechnical engineers, structural engineers and the transit authority to fabricate large anchors to brace the guideway piers. Secants were installed around existing caissons and fixed to a temporary shoring wall during the excavation process.
-
Upon completion of phase 1, Marcon will have supplied all structural steel, excluding rebar, for the construction of three main towers.
-
Tower Two of the development is expected to reach a height of 708-feet (64 storeys) to achieve the accolade of Vancouver’s tallest building.
