Structure Details
Mode is an architectural statement located at the main corridor of South Vancouver’s new River District. This 26-story residential tower features a pronounced building podium accented by vertical fins that add depth to the building’s design. River District is a 130-acre master-planned community on the banks of the Fraser River. The area has been deemed “Vancouver's last waterfront neighbourhood” and, once fully complete, will host more than 15,000 residents and marquee amenities.
Project Highlights
-
Wesgroup selected Marcon to provide structural and architectural building materials following the success of adjacent River District collaborations.
-
The architectural fins are a key focal point of the building’s lower facade. Each panel contains a special surface finish that resembles rust, but does not rust, stain, or deteriorate.
-
Groundfloor canopies frame entranceways and are constructed of a thick, frame-like material containing the same surface finish as the architectural fins.
-
River District is a 130-acre master-planned community (3x the size of Granville Island) and has already won 10 awards, including “best neighbourhood and master-plan design” by the Urban Development Institute (UDI) of Vancouver.
